Esther Kustanowitz

Creative Media and Popular Culture Writer
Los Angeles, California
Esther D. Kustanowitz is a writer, editor and consultant usually based in Los Angeles, occasionally in New York or Jerusalem, and always on the internet.  She  is currently a founding editor and contributor at GrokNation.com and a contributing writer at the Los Angeles Jewish Journal.  Esther has also written for Modern Loss, Haaretz, JTA, The Jewish Week, The Forward and eJewishPhilanthropy , among others.  An early adopter of Jewish blogging and social media tools, Esther is endlessly fascinated with the ongoing evolution of the media picture, as how we receive, consume and share content changes.  Her visible social media presence and large following on Twitter has landed her on several lists of top Jewish influencers.  In her "spare time," Esther is sometimes at work on a book project about life after loss, but is also easily distracted by comedy and popular culture.  She is a casual scholar of #TVgoneJewy, a term she coined to describe the increasingly common event of Jewish references and storylines entering otherwise non-Jewishly-themed TV shows.  A good portion of her brain is devoted to Star Wars and a good portion of her heart is devoted to her nieces and nephews.
