The objective of this power-hour (OK, a little longer than an hour) is to encourage the participants to engage in the conversation across time that is Jewish learning.  "In traditional Jewish society, the purpose of study (lernen) was not information, nor even knowledge, but a lifelong exposure to the sacred texts and an ongoing dialogue with them.  Lernen was seen both as an intellectual endeavor and as an act of devotion; its process was its purpose.” Haym Soloveitchik

We will travel from Maimonides (12th century) to Heschel (20th century) to the feminists Rachel Adler and Judith Plaskow.
